The module emphasises the way in which the European phenomena of collecting and exchange were globalised in the 20th century and continue to develop in multiple ways in the 21st century. On completion you should achieve a new perspective upon the history of art within its markets, integrating the aesthetic and the economic. Taught through a series of lectures and seminars, it is assessed by presentation and a critical essay. Independent learning skills will be developed throughout the module, through directed reading and study visits. If you are interested in developing a career in the business of art, this masters level course will prepare you for the opportunities lying ahead. You will develop the key skills and gain the knowledge to understand global art markets within ever-changing artistic, cultural and economic environments.

Arts into business

Through the course so far, I’ve been able to perfect a television pitch within my content development module. I’ve also had the opportunity to produce several projects, including an as-live studio gameshow in one of the facilities’ TV studios! They deliver board & governance training and development to arts and cultural organisations to strengthen and sustain the sector.
