The unit aims to establish a conceptual framework for understanding industrial relations based on academic theories and research data. A further aim is to develop analytical skills that look beyond symptoms and to encourage judgement founded on an understanding of likely outcomes/implications. This unit is concerned with the way organisations manage and organise their human resources at work, and is thus concerned with the processes that surround managing people from a strategic perspective that focuses on operational practice.

Our careers team is available to support you from the start of your studies until after you graduate. The standard entry requirements for the Integrated Foundation Year are DEE at A level or MPP at BTEC. This module introduces the main players and their roles and functions in the financial system. Learners explore the fundamental concepts in finance needed to understand the financial managers? Decision making process and learn to use a range of analytical tools to interpret the financial data for making informed decisions.

Holders of the Tawjihiyya are not usually eligible for direct entry onto our undergraduate courses without completion of a suitable foundation programme, such as one of our foundation pathways. The aim of the module is to provide students with understanding of the importance of service excellence, including reflection on their own professional conduct practices, and equip them with analytical ability to assess and improve service delivery. Accordingly, strategy constitutes an increasingly important element of all professional business and management qualifications.

We have a dedicated Employability Hub where you can access careers support, find job or placement opportunities, and develop essential skills through workshops with industry experts. You’re supported throughout your course and for up to three years after you graduate. We work with businesses and organisations to ensure the content of our courses are up-to-date and relevant, and that the skills and experience you’ll gain meet the demands of future employers. Some graduates choose to undertake further study in subjects such as marketing, finance, human resources, computing and international, in order to develop their expertise in a particular area of business. Louise Atkinson is the Programme Leader for BA Business Management, supported by the Programme team. Louise has a commercial background in the IT Industry and her expertise lies in product, project and business management.

While considering the ‘general principles’ of Organizational Behaviour, this module will also relate them to issues of contemporary relevance, such as the growing importance of management by culture, and the move towards flexible working practices. We teach many modules through case studies, so you benefit from the subject matter being put in a real-world context. This means you’ll have the opportunity to learn from, and network with, professionals in a range of sectors. Learners are introduced to contemporary thinking about business and organisations their forms roles and purpose in a dynamic changing world.
